NEW OWNERS at Sunny Pastures!

Hello friends,

We’re Adam and Anne Lyons. We are a young family living in the hills of Gravel Switch, Kentucky with our three children, and one more little one on the way this fall. Not long ago, we were living what you might call a “normal” life in modern society, but over time, we felt called to slow down, step away from the rush, and embrace a simpler, plainer way of living.

I, Adam, studied accounting at Berea College and earned my degree in 2016. For several years I worked in my field, eventually starting my own tax and accounting business—something I still run today. But I also felt the pull toward farming, so, together as a family, we took the leap into raising cows and chickens, baking bread, and learning the old skills that once came naturally to daily life.

Sunny Pastures has been a big part of my life for three and a half years, but the journey here began with a single Sunday. We were seeking a plainer way of life, and we visited a Mennonite church for the very first time. After the service, a kind couple, David, and his wife, Susan, invited us to their home. That simple act of hospitality began a friendship that changed our path. In time, I began working for David, and our connection to the farm and this community deepened in ways we could never have planned.

Looking ahead, we plan to bring our cows back home to our own pasture and work hand-in-hand with other farmers in our community. We also hope to build relationships with businesses our customers own, creating a network of support that strengthens everyone involved. Sunny Pastures is more than just our farm, it’s a shared journey toward living well, working together, and building something lasting for the next generation.

What’s Changing at Sunny Pastures

As we look toward the next chapter, Sunny Pastures will be going through some exciting transitions. One of the biggest changes is that we’ll be bringing many of our cows back home to our own pasture, allowing us to care for them right here where our family lives. This will give us much more control over every detail, from the feed they eat to the comfort of their living space, resulting in a better quality of milk and dairy products for our herd-share members. We appreciate your prayers in this endeavor.

We’re also working toward closer collaboration with other farmers in our community—sharing resources, learning from each other, and supporting the kind of small-scale agriculture that keeps rural life thriving. Beyond farming, we hope to partner with businesses our customers own, creating a network where everyone benefits and our local economy grows stronger.

We are automating our billing process in hopes of having a more streamlined and error free experience. We are working out the kinks in this process so, thank you for your patience!

We are happy to bring back referral credits. If you refer your friends, you will get a $20 credit per purchased share for each referral! Your referral will also get the same $20 credit per share that they purchase. Who doesn’t love free milk?

We’re also planning to roll out new products, like fresh-baked bread, rich chocolate milk, and other seasonal treats, that bring even more of the farm’s goodness to your table.

Another change we’re excited about is the creation of our Sunny Pastures website. It will be a place where you can learn more about our farm, stay up to date on changes, and find resources on health, raw milk, homesteading, and simple living, all in one spot.

And because we want the herdshare experience to feel personal, we plan to name each of our cows and share their personalities with you. We hope to keep you updated on your cow. We want you to feel like you truly know the cow that provides your milk, making cow ownership a real, tangible connection, not just a concept.

While the heart of Sunny Pastures will remain the same, these changes reflect our commitment to making the farm more personal, more sustainable, and better than ever in quality.

What You Can Do

As we step into this new chapter, many of you have asked how you can help us along the way. The truth is, your support means the world to us, and there are a few simple things that make a big difference:

  • Sign up for auto-payments – This helps us spend less time on bookkeeping and more time in the barn with the cows and in the kitchen making good food. You likely received an email or text invoice from us this past weekend. It was legitimate and you can use that link to pay for your milk and sign up for auto pay.

  • Leave us a Google review – A kind word online goes farther than you might think, helping others discover Sunny Pastures and giving our little farm a bigger voice.

We appreciate your patience as we transition into a new era of Sunny Pastures!

It seems like much is changing at Sunny Pastures and in our lives as we transition into ownership,  and we don’t know every detail of what lies ahead, but we know the One who does—and we trust His plan.

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
