Why We Chose A2A2 Milk (and Why It Matters)
If you had told me a few years ago that there were different types of milk protein, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. Milk was just… milk and it was disgusting to me and made me sick. The more we learned—and the more we heard from families—the more we realized something important: not all milk is the same. After I tried raw milk from a neighbor I realized maybe milk didn’t make me sick after all!
A lot of people think they’re lactose intolerant. And sometimes that’s true. But we’ve met so many people who say things like, “Milk just doesn’t sit right with me,” or “I get bloated every time I drink it,” or “I had to give it up years ago.” What surprised us is that for many of those people, lactose wasn’t actually the problem.
Milk contains a protein called beta-casein, and there are two types: A1 and A2. Most store-bought milk today contains a mix of both. But years ago, cows naturally produced only A2 milk. Over time, as dairy farming changed and cows were bred for higher production, A1 protein became much more common in modern herds.
When the body digests A1 protein, it can break down in a way that’s harder for some people to handle. A2 protein, on the other hand, tends to be gentler and easier to digest, and it’s closer to what our bodies were originally used to. That’s a big part of why we made the decision to focus on A2A2 cows—cows that produce only A2 milk.
This wasn’t about chasing a trend. It was about stepping back and asking what made sense. We wanted to produce milk that felt more natural, more traditional, and more aligned with how things used to be.
And honestly, the most convincing part hasn’t been research—it’s been what we’ve seen firsthand. We’ve had families come to us and say, “I haven’t been able to drink milk in years,” and then after trying A2A2 milk, they tell us, “This is completely different.” Now, that doesn’t mean it works for everyone. But we hear it often enough that it means something.
For us, A2A2 milk isn’t just about digestion. It’s about the whole picture. It’s about milk that hasn’t been over-processed, cows raised the way they’re meant to be, and a connection to your food that most people don’t have anymore. It’s slower, simpler, and more intentional.
At the end of the day, A2A2 milk isn’t something new—it’s actually something old. It’s milk the way it used to be. Before everything became industrial. Before convenience replaced quality. Before people lost touch with where their food comes from.
We’re not trying to convince everyone to switch. We just want to offer something different. Something honest. Something you can feel good about giving your family.
Because store-bought milk just ain’t the same. 🐄🥛
